The Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic, in cooperation with the ZAiKS Authors’ Association, is organizing the 4th International Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Composers’ Competition in 2026. The Competition aims to commemorate the Patron of the Philharmonic. The Competition will also promote young composers and contribute to the expansion of the concert repertoire.
The subject of the Competition is the composition of a work for string orchestra with a maximum instrumentation of 5-4-3-3-1 and a duration of 5 to 10 minutes. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2026.
The following distinguished authorities have been invited to serve on the Competition Jury:

- Anna Maria Huszcza
- Piotr Pławner
- Adam Wesołowski
The prize pool includes:
- cash prizes with a total value of PLN 16,000
- the premiere performance of the winning work during the 14th International Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Festival “Episodes”
- a professional audiovisual recording of the premiere performance
