The Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonicin Katowice is organizing the 2nd Henryk Mikołaj Górecki International Composition Competition in 2022, whose aim is to commemorate the patron of the Philharmonic. The competition will also be used to promote young composers and broaden the concert repertoire.
The subject of the Competition is composing a piece for a string orchestra (max. ensemble formation: 5-4-3-3-1) lasting from 5 to 10 minutes. The deadline for submitting works is 30 September 2022.
The following recognised experts have been invited to the Competition Jury:

- Mikołaj Górecki
- Jerzy Kornowicz
- Piotr Pławner
- Adam Wesołowski
The award in the competition will be the premiere rendition of the winning piece during the International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, annually organized by the Silesian Philharmonic, and professional audiovisual recording of the premiere rendition.
