GAME MUSIC FEST 2023
The 1st edition of the GAME MUSIC FEST has introduced a new tradition spectacularly. The concert in Spodek Arena (Katowice, Poland) was a spectacle focused on video game music and all that comes with it. The audience not only heard soundtracks from 16 games performed by the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (two of them were premiered), but also experienced multimedia, visualizations, cosplay, dance and fire show, and many more.
After the exuberant introduction, the second day of the festival covered the topics like producing, composing, and developing game music. In the Silesian Philharmonic, we hosted: Adam Skorupa – one of the best-known and most experienced Polish video game music composers and sound designers (Witcher, Painkiller, Shadow Warrior, Diablo Immortal), Bartosz Chajdecki – composer, known by Polish – and abroad – audiences for his film music compositions (Gods, Breaking the Limits, The Champion) and game music (Space Tail), Ben Parker – Lead Music Producer at Laced (Keywords Studios), Tomasz Bonikowski – harpsichordist, organist, composer, and game music expert, Adam Wesołowski – director of the Silesian Philharmonic, composer, conductor, and culture manager, and Michał ‘Wasiu’ Wasik, who was the moderator of GAME MUSIC DISCUSSION PANEL. What’s more, that evening concert of music from ‘Gra Szyfrów’ game happened, performed by ‘The Opera’ Quartet, and a hologram concert performed by Dombrova Piano Duo. All the time, our guests could visit the VR section, AR exhibition, and stands of partners: Keywords Studios and IPN.
Another relevant part of the festival was the GAME MUSIC CONTEST – an international competition for the GAME MUSIC FEST musical logo. The winner was Jakub Tokarczyk, whose composition was performed in Spodek Arena.
