June 2011

On the 6th June 2011, the Silesian Province Administrative Court in Gliwice dismissed the plaint of Ms B. Neukirch-Grychtol against the Provincial Governor?s decision taken on the 31st August 2010. Therefore, the decision of the Mayor of the City of Katowice, approving the construction design and giving the official permit for the construction and extension of the Silesian Philharmonic?s building, has been sustained.

On the 15th June 2011, representatives of the Silesian Philharmonic negotiated an annexe to the contract with the German company Karl Schuke Berliner Orgelbauwerkstatt GmbH (concerning the design, construction and installation of a pipe organ), as the completion of the building works was postponed. They agreed that some of the organ?s parts will be sent to the Silesian Philharmonic at the end of the third quarter of 2011, as it is impossible to store these parts in the Schuke company?s seat. The installation of the pipe organ will start at the turn of August and September 2012 and will end in December 2012.

The General Contractor accelerated the works in the new part of the Silesian Philharmonic?s building. By the end of June, the ceiling of the second floor was completely finished and 50% of the third floor?s reinforcement was constructed.

On the 21st and 29th June 2011, two important meetings were held. The General Contractor agreed with the designer?s constructors on the reinforcement of the construction of the existing building. The General Contractor will proceed to make the reinforcements as soon as he gets the permit from the Silesian Province Monument Conservator.
